Doctor of Counselling Psychology and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with 30 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through anxiety, trauma, burnout, grief, addiction, mental health challenges, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I have worked frontline, clinically, and in leadership roles, supporting people from many different backgrounds and life experiences.
My approach is warm, direct, person-centred, trauma-informed, and grounded in dignity, compassion, and evidence-based care. I use an eclectic approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, and practical skills-based interventions. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I support clients in processing trauma, reducing emotional distress, understanding patterns, and building tools for emotional regulation, healing, and lasting change.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, grief, trauma, relationship stress, low self-worth, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions. My work focuses on helping clients better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect with their values, confidence, and sense of direction.
I also have extensive expertise in substance use health and addiction. I support clients in exploring their relationship with substances, managing cravings, developing relapse prevention strategies, reducing harm, and creating personalized pathways toward recovery. I believe recovery is deeply personal, and I work from a non-judgmental, collaborative approach that honours each person’s readiness, goals, and lived experience.
In my work with couples and families, I support people navigating communication challenges, conflict, addiction-related stress, trust repair, emotional disconnection, boundaries, and the impact of trauma or substance use on relationships. I help couples and families slow down difficult conversations, better understand each other’s needs, and build healthier patterns of connection.
I also work with frontline workers, healthcare professionals, first responders, caregivers, and leaders experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, workplace stress, trauma exposure, and emotional exhaustion. Drawing on decades of experience in high-pressure environments, I help helpers reconnect with balance, boundaries, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.
I offer in-person sessions in Ottawa and virtual therapy across Ontario.
